We work to improve the State of Colorado’s mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery efforts for cultural and historic resources
What is the CHR-TF?
The Cultural and Historic Resources Task Force (CHR-TF) provides invaluable expertise in the assessment of at-risk and impacted museums, libraries, and archives. The CHR-TF consists of dedicated professionals from each of these constituent areas. The Colorado Office of Emergency Management (DHSEM) relies on this group, working with the Office of Historic Preservation and Archeology (History Colorado), to convey timely and accurate information regarding disaster-affected cultural resources, institutions, and collections. The CHR-TF is an important member of the Colorado State Recovery Task Force’s (SRTF) that provides critical disaster damage information, recovery guidance, and technical assistance to emergency managers and state partners.
Working together, the cultural and historic resource and emergency management communities in Colorado organize and strengthen our state's assets and capabilities. We do this by:
Building relationships between the emergency management and cultural and historic resource communities
Advocating for the incorporation of cultural and historic resources into state and local plans
Responding to disasters as appropriate, reaching out to cultural organizations or responding to their inquiries
Working with State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) as requested and aiding in disaster recovery
Drawing upon existing resources and subject matter expertise to provide assistance to cultural and historic resources
